Abstract:
The theory of heavenly moral is a Taoist theory to present the nature and origin of things in terms of the conception of “moral”, which gains a typical elaboration in Zhuang Zi. The theory is introduced in the work mainly from three angles. First of all, there is a direct theoretical relation between “moral” and “gain”. Next, there are intricate and complex associations between “moral” and “Tao” as the origin of all things. Finally, “moral” is related with “nature” on the one hand, but on the other different from it as the potential quality of generating things. Above all, the theory of heavenly moral discussed in Zhuang Zi offers a theoretical basis for individual moral in terms of world outlook, which shows the Taoist original view of “moral”.
