Abstract:
Of the ten sages in the four humanistic arts, all of them were well worth their fames except for Boniu, no mention of whom was found in any recorded documents, Zhonggong, whose fame was disputable, and Zaiyu, who fell a little short of his fame. The four humanistic arts revealed the different value pursuits of the four academic fields, which helped to establish the fames of the ten sages. Yanui became the most outstanding of Confucians with his popular reputation while Zixia contributed much to the prosperity of Confucianism by his excellent teaching in Xihe.
