From November 29th to December 1th, the second Ecological Asset Management and Chinese Modernization Strategic Consultation Conference was held in Nanping, Fujian Province. Experts and scholars discussed the innovative measures for high-level management of ecological assets and the essential characteristics of Chinese modernization behind China's ecological asset management practices. At the conference, the Wuyi Institute of Ecological Civilization of RUC was established.
With the theme of "Strengthening ecological asset management and promoting comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development", this conference is co-organized by RUC and the People's Government of Nanping City, and hosted by the School of Ecology and Environment, Institute of Ecological Civilization, and Nanping Municipal Development and Reform Commission.
Fujian Vice Governor Lin Ruiliang, President of RUC Lin Shangli, Nanping Mayor Lin Jian, Fujian Statistics Bureau Director Ye Feiwen, Wuyi University President Wu Chengzhen, National Development and Reform Commission Environmental Resources Department Deputy Director Zhang Lupeng, National Forestry and Grassland Administration National Park (Natural Reserve) Development Center Deputy Director Yuan Weiguo attended the opening ceremony. Pang Jun, Dean of the School of Ecology and Environment of RUC, presided over the opening ceremony and the main forum.
Lin Shangli said that we should grasp the political logic, theoretical logic and practical logic of ecological asset management, build a highland of cooperation for ecological civilization knowledge innovation with a broader vision, and build a highland of demonstration for ecological civilization innovation and development with greater efforts. RUC is willing to work with all parties to hold high the banner of ecological civilization, deepen the research and interpretation of ecological asset management issues, and make greater contributions to comprehensively promote the construction of a beautiful China and accelerate the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
Lin Jian said that in recent years, we have accelerated the transformation of ecological resources into ecological assets and ecological value into economic value, and have taken new steps in exploring the path of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. It is expected that through this conference, a number of theoretical achievements and reform methods with strategic height and ideological depth will be formed. Nanping will make full use of the results of the conference, further strengthen ecological asset management, and promote the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.
Zhang Lupeng said that improving the mechanism for realizing the value of ecological products is a complex systematic project. In the next step, the National Development and Reform Commission will continue to deepen institutional and mechanism reform and innovation, and continuously broaden the path for realizing the value of ecological products that is government-led, involves enterprises and all sectors of society, is market-oriented, and sustainable. It will work with relevant departments and localities to deepen basic research on the ecological product catalog, explore innovative models of green finance, and better play the role of the government.
Yuan Weiguo said that the State Forestry and Grassland Administration (National Park Administration) and relevant departments have regarded the establishment of a national park system as a major political task, boldly explored and actively innovated, gradually built a national park system with Chinese characteristics, and achieved a number of landmark achievements. It is hoped that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to promote high-level protection and high-quality development of national parks.
In order to continue to make good use of the results of the ecological asset management and Chinese-style modernization strategic consultation meeting, based on Wuyi ecological practice, RUC and Wuyi University jointly established the Wuyi Ecological Civilization Research Institute to jointly create an innovative highland for ecological civilization research and practice. Lin Ruiliang, Lin Shangli, Lin Jian, and Wu Chengzhen jointly unveiled the institute.
Pang Jun, dean of the School of Ecology and Environment of RUC, released the "China Ecological Asset Management Annual Report 2024". The report pointed out that our country's urban ecological asset management has achieved initial results, and is mainly based on autonomous exploration by cities, but there are still obvious spatial differentiation characteristics in the overall level and development direction, and uneven management levels of cities within the province. It is necessary to further adapt measures to local conditions, make the best use of strengths and overcome weaknesses, strengthen the comprehensive management level of government ecological assets, and explore high-level ecological asset management paths.
