On November 22, 2024, a group of NJU international students from 14 countries, joined a one-day workshop to experience Lacquer Fan, a Chinese intangible cultrual heritage. The workshop was jointly organized by Graduate Union of Nanjing University and the Youth League Committee of Gulou District.
The event began with a visit to the Yangtze River Aquatic Life Science Museum, where students explored exhibition halls showcasing two iconic species: the Chinese sturgeon and the finless porpoise. Then they headed to Xiaguan West Railway Theme Park for a journey through time, immersing themselves in the unique railway culture of Nanjing.
At the final stop, students experienced the process of making Lacquer Fan. By designing and creating their own one-of-a-kind Lacquer Fan, students appreciated the beauty of Chinese intangible cultrual heritage.
