On October 22-23, the First "Science and Technology Confucius Institute Cup" International University Robot Competition was held at the National Library of Belarus. Xiating Feng, President of NEU, Sergei V. Kharytonchyk, President of Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU), Junke Yang, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches, accompanied by Timur Majushnets, Vice President of BNTU; representatives of the Science, Education and Culture Department of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, the President's Office of NEU, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of NEU, the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research of NEU, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of NEU, and the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of NEU.
Xiating Feng emphasized in his speech that the "Confucius Institute Cup" International University Robot Competition was a perfect combination of science and technology and education, offering a platform for young people from different cultures to engage in scientific and technological exchanges and practical innovation. We hoped that the contestants could take the competition as an opportunity to learn from each other, establish long-lasting friendships, and inject new vigor and make new contributions to the world's scientific and technological development with their wisdom and creativity.
Sergei V. Kharytonchyk said that the "Science and Technology Confucius Institute Cup" International University Robot Competition was an important step to strengthen international scientific and technological cooperation, and the success of the competition would provide a new impetus to deepen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and Belarus.
Junke Yang said that the Science and Technology Confucius Institute has co-organized and hosted a series of scientific and technological innovation activities such as China-Belarus Youth Scientific Research and Innovation Forum, China-Belarus Innovation Bridge Forum, and "One Belt, One Road" Scientific and Technological Translation Competition, which have played a powerful role in deepening the scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between China and Belarus. The successful holding of the "Science and Technology Confucius Institute Cup" International University Robot Competition would surely give a boost to the deepening of scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between China and Belarus. The Science and Technology Confucius Institute would surely open a new chapter for the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, while also contributing positively to the traditional friendship between the two peoples.
The competition consisted of four tracks: "Unmanned Robot Competition and Mini Enhanced Unmanned Robot Competition", "Narrow Line Tracking Extreme Competition", "10×10 Mini Sumo Competition" and "Drone Flying Competition", attracting 20 teams and more than 60 players from China, Belarus, Russia and other countries.
After a fierce competition, Yuxin Kang and Chaofan Zhang from School of Robotics Science and Engineering won the champion in the "Narrow Line Tracking Extreme Competition", while Rufeng Qian from School of Information Science and Engineering and Bo Lu from School of Materials Science and Engineering were the runners-up in the "Unmanned Robot and Mini Enhanced Unmanned Robot Competition".
The competition has promoted international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, setting up a platform for young students from various countries to show their talents, exchange ideas and learn from each other, and has witnessed the fruitful results of the ten-year inter-university cooperation between NEU and BNTU. During this decade, the two universities have achieved remarkable results in scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation, setting a model for international scientific and technological cooperation.
Looking ahead, NEU and BNTU will continue to deepen their cooperation and work together to cultivate more scientific and technological talents with international perspectives and innovative capabilities, and contribute wisdom and strength to the promotion of scientific and technological progress and development in the world.
