From April 27 to 28, the Forum on the Integration of Industry and Education in the “Artificial Intelligence+” Era and the Coordinated Development of Economy and Culture in East Asia was held in Room 402 of Hanqing Hall. The forum focused on issues such as the Chinese perspective of East Asian cultural studies, the balanced development of regional cultural construction and new quality productivity, and technological ethics in the process of Chinese-style modernization. During the forum, comprehensive and high-level academic exchanges were made. More than 100 industry experts and scholars from home and abroad, representatives from all walks of life and young scholars attended the forum.
Hai Guo, Secretary of the Party Committee of NEU, Xingwei Wang, Vice President, Kurabayashi Masato, President of Josai International University, Weiping Wang, Speaker of “Lecture Room”, Wangyang Hu, Vice Chairman of Association of Industry and Commerce in Liaoning Province and Secretary of the Party Committee of Neusoft Corporation, Liping Xie, Secondary Inspector in Office of Policy Research of Shenyang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Haitao Qi, Chairman of Shenyang Federation of Social Science Associations, attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Relevant heads of the Foreign Studies College and the School of Computer Science and Engineering attended the opening ceremony. Professor Lei Sun, former Vice President of NEU and Dean of College of East Asian Studies, presided over the opening ceremony.
Hai Guo said that since its establishment for a hundred years, NEU has always taken educating people and rejuvenating the country as its mission, forming distinctive school-running characteristics. It is expected that experts and scholars will take this forum as an opportunity to put forward valuable academic opinions, broaden the academic exchange channels of NEU in the integration of industry and education, East Asian studies, etc., and continue to promote the coordinated development of economy and culture.
Haitao Qi emphasized that the integration of industry and education has been playing an important role in promoting the development of Liaoning. It is expected that the College of East Asian Studies will continue to adhere to the research policy of "interdisciplinary, wide-dimensional, multi-perspective, and internationalization", trace history, pay attention to reality, explore frontiers, and actively offer advice and suggestions for higher-level, deeper, and wider exchanges and cooperation between Liaoning, Northeast China, and even the whole country and East Asian countries.
Xingwei Wang, Kurabayashi Masato and Weiping Wang made keynote speeches at the forum respectively. Qiuju Wang, Executive Dean and Doctoral Supervisor of the College of East Asian Studies, and Jian Wang, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Marxism, presided over the keynote speeches. Four experts and scholars, including Professor Lei Sun, Dean of the College of East Asian Studies, Tomoki Furukawa, Professor of the International Department of Kansai University, Hongmei Chai, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Dalian University of Foreign Languages, and Siru, former Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Hokkaido University in Japan, made keynote speeches at the forum. Professor Yue Zhao and Professor Hongmei Chai, Executive Dean of the College of Medicine and Biological Information Engineering, presided over the keynote speeches.
On the forum, an appointment ceremony for researchers of the College of East Asian Studies was also held. Hai Guo, Haitao Qi, Lei Sun and other leaders attending the forum issued letters of appointment to the newly appointed researchers.
After the forum, President Xiating Feng held talks with Kurabayashi Masato to exchange views on deepening cooperation between the two universities.
