From June 1 to 2, the 2019 “Safe Study Abroad” pre-trip training meeting, which was sponsored by the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Ministry of Education, hosted by the Study Abroad Service Center of the Ministry of Education and co-sponsored by Northeastern University, was held in the science museum of Northeastern University. More than 300 people from 18 universities such as Northeastern University, Liaoning University and Shenyang Jianzhu University attended the training. Theses people were government-sponsored, self-sponsored and the staff of these universities responsible for affairs of studying abroad.
Tang Lixin, vice-president of Northeastern University, attended the training meeting and delivered a speech, stressing the importance of open communication to world-class universities and encouraging the majority of overseas students to broaden their minds, study hard and serve their country.
Relevant experts from China Scholarship Council, Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Liaoning Provincial People's Government, the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Northeastern University were invited as participants. The training lectures cover the national regulations on public administration, knowledge of mental health for overseas students, consular protection, practical security training, the sacred mission given by the era of studying abroad and serving the country, daily health care of traditional Chinese and western medicine, the education systems of the United States and Australia and the sharing of overseas study life, etc. More specialized and targeted pre-trip training services were provided to overseas students.
