Recently, the 13th National Innovation Competition in Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling for College Students was held at Nanchang Hangkong University. The competition was carried out in two ways: offline open innovative design competition and 3D printing technology competition, and online closed competition. A total of 4,538 students of 647 teams from 395 universities nationwide participated in the competition. Among the 350 teams in the machinery category, the team led by Zhao Wei, Wang Na, Zhang Wenlei and Chen Yazhe from NEU’s School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation won the first prize for teams with the total score in the second place and the first prize for teams with the score in the fifth place in the offline open 3D printing competition.
The National Innovation Competition in Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling for College Students is jointly organized by the MOE Steering Committee of Engineering Graphics Teaching in Colleges and Universities, and the Cartographic Technology Committee and the Professional Committee of Product Information Modeling of China Graphics Society. As the highest level national competition in graphics courses, it was included by the China Association of Higher Education in the ranking list of national discipline competition for regular institutions of higher learning in 2018. The competition is aimed at cultivating students' craftsmanship spirit, stimulating their innovation consciousness, exploring the development direction of cartography, and innovating in the methods and means of cartographic carriers. Featuring large scale, high level, and big number of participants, the competition is honored as the “Olympics of Graphics”.
