On October 29, the signing ceremony of Western Liaoning Industrial Technology Research Institute for Comprehensive Utilization of Vanadium and Titanium Resources jointly developed by Chaoyang Municipal People's Government and NEU was held in Chaoyan. Ai Honge, Deputy Secretary of Chaoyang Municipal Party Committee, the people in charge of related work of Chaoyang, and relevant personnel from NEU’s Sci-tech Department, College of Information Science and Engineering, School of Metallurgy, School of Material Science and Engineering, and Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Processing of Materials of MOE attended the ceremony.
The Western Liaoning Industrial Technology Research Institute for Comprehensive Utilization of Vanadium and Titanium Resources focuses on making breakthroughs in the mining, mineral processing, smelting of vanadium and titanium resources, the extraction of valuable metals, the comprehensive utilization of typical bulk solid waste and other key technologies, and carries out research centering on comprehensive reuse of vanadium and titanium resources, upgrade of scientific value, technical route innovation, and in-depth engineering application. It is committed to deploying the industrial chain with the innovation chain as the center, building a service support platform featuring deep integration of government, industry, academia, research and application, and effectively promoting high-quality development of the vanadium and titanium industry in western Liaoning.
In 2018, NEU and Chaoyang Municipal People's Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties accurately targeted science and technology and talents by centering on China’s strategic deployment of implementing innovation-driven development and comprehensive revitalization of the old industrial bases in northeast China. They have developed a university-local government cooperation model that is government-led, market-oriented, enterprise-dominated, university-coordinated and project-demonstrated by setting up a technology transfer sub-center, jointly establishing the Chaoyang NEU Minerals and Metallurgy Institute, and implementing such special activities as serving academic leaders and servingnorthwest Liaoning.
