From October 24 to 26, the second China-Russia Local investment development and trade cooperation conference was held in Shenyang. The conference was hosted by the People's Government of Liaoning Province, co-hosted by Department of Commerce of Liaoning Province and Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Liaoning Province, and received strong support from the Ministry of Commerce of Liaoning Province. At the invitation of Department of Commerce of Liaoning Province, NEU selected 41 Russian majors to provide high-quality volunteer services for the conference, and assigned them into volunteer services such as pick-up guides, check-in assistance, economic and trade negotiation and translation.
This conference invited more than 200 Russian local dignitaries and representatives of relevant government departments, business circles and famous enterprises to attend. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the conference and smooth communication among the participants, the Foreign Studies College of NEU conducted etiquette training and discipline training for the volunteers.
On the morning of the 24th, volunteers from NEU arrived at Shenyang Taoxian Airport, Shenyangbei Railway Station, Shenyang Railway Station and other transportation hubs, and started the nearly 10 hours of airport and station pickups. Volunteers dressed neatly, with enthusiasm, to meet the guests from Russia. Facing the problems of scattered arrival time and language barrier faced by the guests, volunteers of NEU worked in groups to provide fixed-point services, and cooperated with the staff to send the guests to the hotels to ensure the consistent and high-quality services. “I am the volunteer in charge of picking up the passengers. The pick-up work lasted until the evening, during which we were too busy to eat and had very little time to rest. When the day's pick-up work was over, I realized that I had finally put the knowledge from Russian textbooks into practice, and although I was tired, I was very excited and proud of myself.” Volunteer Xuanrui Cui said.
At the hotel service point, volunteers expertly received passports and assisted hotel workers in completing check-in procedures for foreign guests. In the lobby of the hotel, the volunteers enthusiastically inquired about the needs of the Russian guests and patiently answered their questions.
During the welcome dinner, opening ceremony and fashion show, volunteers of NEU shuttled around the major venues and performed their duties, assisting the staff in guiding hundreds of foreign guests to sign in, enter and take their seats, so that the participants could enjoy the whole process of warm-hearted service. In the Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair, the volunteers provided translation services for the business negotiation between Chinese and Russian enterprises, actively matchmaking for Chinese and Russian enterprises, assisting the communication between the two sides, and recording the negotiation results in time, contributing their youthful strength to the international friendly exchanges and cooperation.
