From June 7 to 10, the capital of Belarus, Minsk, hosted the "2024 Minsk Robotics Open". The team of Junjun Tao and Zirui Xiong from the Faculty of Robot Science and Engineering at NEU won the championship in the robot soccer competition, while the team of Hanyi Xu and Haoran Pei from the School of Information Science and Engineering, along with Qidi Zhao from the School of Mechanical Engineering, won the runner-up in the robot racing competition.
It is reported that the Minsk Robotics Open is a division competition of the Saint Petersburg World Robot Contest, which has been held for 11 consecutive sessions. This competition consists of a total of 36 tracks. Apart from the individual open competitions, there are also competitions between countries. A total of 372 teams and over 1,000 participants from Belarus, China, and Russia took part in the competition. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Brest Technology Park Co., Ltd, and the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU).
The team representing NEU in this competition is jointly organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with guidance from Zixi Jia, a teacher from the Faculty of Robot Science and Engineering, and Mingxu Ma, a teacher from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation.
