On the morning of April 13th, the 9th NEU "Sunshine Humanities and Law Cup" faculty and staff swimming competition, hosted by the University Trade Union, organized by the School of Humanities and Law, and co-organized by the Physical Education Department and the Sports Venue Management Center, kicked off at the university's natatorium. Haiying Sha, Chairman of the University Trade Union, Yongqiang Sui, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Humanities and Law, Mingbo Wang , Party General Branch Secretary of the Physical Education Department, Yuhe Yan, Director of the Sports Venues Management Center, and Qingwang Meng, Vice Chairman of the University Trade Union, attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Lining Yan, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Vice Dean (concurrently) of the School of Humanities and Law. More than 60 athletes from 16 trade union divisions participated in the competition of 9 events.
The competition was strongly supported by the School of Humanities and Law, the Physical Education Department, and the Sports Venue Management Center. Yiliang Li, a national-level swimming referee from the Physical Education Department, acted as the chief referee, while Chaoxin Ji, a teacher from the Physical Education Department, was responsible for starting the races.
After fierce competition, Nan Ying from the University Administration and Yan Wei from the College of Arts won the championship in the middle-aged group of the breaststroke; Henan Sun from the University Administration and Shi Fan from the College of Sciences won the championship in the young group of the breaststroke; Hongbin Sun and Jun Liu from the College of Sciences won the championship in the middle-aged group of the freestyle; Tianyu Wang and Dandan Hu from the University Administration won the championship in the young group of the freestyle. The University Administration, College of Sciences, and College of Information Science and Engineering won the championship, second place, and third place in the mixed team relay race.
