On April 23, the 2022 Liaoning Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition & 2023 National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition Qualification Trials came to an end. The competition lasted for 3 days. NEU had 19 teams participating in the competition and won 8 first prizes, 7 second prizes and 4 third prizes, achieving the best results in recent years. Among them, in the preliminary competition of underwater pipeline intelligent inspection, the team of Wang Guocun, Kang Yuxin, Li Guolin and Zhang Bifan, guided by teachers Xu Hongli and Ru Jingyu from the Faculty of Robot Science and Engineering of NEU, got the only full score. In the final of the same competition, the team of Wei Junjie, Wang Yida, Nie Ming and Chu Yichen, guided by teacher Ma Mingxu from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation and teacher Wang Diankuan from the Engineering Training Center of the Academic Affairs Department, won the first place in the competition area of Liaoning Province by their steady performance in the steps of tracing, identification and removal.
The National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition is one of the important competitions in the Competition List of China Association of Higher Education. The 2022 Liaoning Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition was themed “Keep virtue, respect labor, pursue excellence in engineering innovation, serve the society, and take responsibilities for developing an intelligent manufacturing power”. It was sponsored by the Education Department of Liaoning Province and the Department of Finance of Liaoning Province, and co-hosted by Shenyang Aerospace University, Shenyang Jianzhu University and Dalian Jiaotong University. This competition consisted of 3 courses and 9 items, attracting a total of more than 1,400 participants of 352 teams from 26 universities in Liaoning Province.
Over the years, NEU has been attaching great importance to the positive role of scientific and technological innovation competitions in talent cultivation, and has made great efforts to build a full-coverage, graded, overlapping and quantifiable star-level competition education system to steadily promote the healthy and sustainable development of various scientific and technological competitions. The 2023 National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition Qualification Trials at NEU was organized by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and presented by the Engineering Training Center of the Academic Affairs Department. It has provided students with a platform for their basic knowledge expansion, professional training and actual practice, and effectively improved their academic ability, teamwork ability as well as innovation and practice ability.
