On December 9, Professor David FitzPatrick, Vice-president of University of Nottingham and President of University of Nottingham Malaysia, and his delegation visited NEU. Kong Feng, member of Party Group and Deputy Director of Educational Department of Liaoning Province, and Feng Xiating, President of NEU met with the guests in Room 1401 of the Main Building of NEU, accompanied by relevant persons in charge of Liaoning Provincial International Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Educational Department, International Cooperation and Exchange Department NEU, and the School of Computer Science and Engineering NEU.
Kong Feng expressed his warm welcome to David FitzPatrick and his delegation and introduced the overview of higher education and international exchange and cooperation in Liaoning Province, emphasizing that Liaoning is a mahor province in terms of higher education and always attaches great importance to opening education to the outside world. Kong Feng said it is expected that the two universities will deepen cooperation and contribute to the introduction of first-class educational resources in Liaoning Province.
Feng Xiating warmly welcomed David FitzPatrick and his delegation and introduced the history, educational philosophy and discipline layout of NEU. Feng Xiating expressed that NEU has consistently been committed to international cooperative teaching pattern, looking forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with the University of Nottingham and the University of Nottingham Malaysia through talent cultivation and joint scientific research, and expanding the areas of cooperation starting with the computer science discipline as a pivotal area.
David FitzPatrick introduced the history, characteristics and development goals of University of Nottingham Malaysia, emphasized that the university has always been committed to cultivating high-caliber talents with global vision and innovation ability. He indicated that this visit aims at discussing the co-organization of Chinese-foreign cooperative school projects with NEU, and setting up a platform for teachers and students for international exchanges and cooperation between the two universities to enhance the influence of the two universities on the global scale and to pursue excellence and innovation together.
After the meeting, Feng Xiating and David FitzPatrick signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two universities.
