Jinbo CHENG

Position: Professor in Minzu University of China (Beijing, China)

Adress: College of Life and Environmental Science, Minzu University of China, Beijing, China.

Email: cheng_jinbo@126.com

Doctor of Science (Beijing Normal University), 2019 High-Level Excellent Talents of Minzu University of China, Professor, Master Supervisor, Visiting Scholar at Sanford-Burnham Medical Institute, Vice Chairman of Youth Committee of Beijing Neuroscience Society, Standing Committee Member of Chinese Stroke Society-Transformation Branch, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Pharmacology, Topic Editor of Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.

His research mainly focuses on the pathogenic mechanism and intervention of neurological diseases (Neurodegenerative diseases, Stroke, Depression, etc.), especially the role and regulatory mechanism of microglial activation-induced neuroinflammation. Until now, Cheng Jinbo published more than 40 SCI papers as the first author or corresponding author in Science Advances (IF=14.9), Autophagy (IF= 16.0), Cell Death and Differentiation (IF=15.8) and other internationally renowned journals. He has hosted four State Natural Science Fund of China grants (2015-2017, 2019-2020, 2021-2024, 2023-2026), and one Beijing Natural Science Foundation project grant, etc.

TEACHING:

Neurobiology, Neuropathology, Molecular Pharmacology, Brain Science and Brain Health, Introduction to Biological Sciences (biomedical component)

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

1. Research on the pathogenic mechanism of neurodegenerative diseases: focusing on the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, combining gene knockout, animal behaviour, molecular biology and other technical methods, we will focus on the role and molecular mechanism of microglia-mediated neuroinflammation in the development of the diseases, to reveal the key role of neuroinflammation in the diseases, and provide key molecular targets and new strategies for the treatment of the diseases.

2. Research on the pathogenic mechanism and intervention of affective disorders: focusing on the pathogenic mechanism of affective disorders such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, revealing the molecular mechanism of the occurrence of affective disorders such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder and exploring new strategies to intervene in these disorders by establishing animal models of the diseases and combining gene knockout and drug intervention.

3. Epigenetic modification research: focusing on the role and mechanism of epigenetic regulation (RNA methylation modification, post-translational modification of proteins, etc.) in neuroinflammatory regulation and neurological diseases
