Academic and Social work

I am currently an innovative member of the Youth Working Committee of the Soil Soil Society of China, a member of the “Ecological Think Tank” in Binhu, Wuxi, a member of the Chinese Society For Environmental Sciences, and the Chinese Society of Toxicology. Furthermore, I am an Associate Editor of Heliyon, and the member of young editorial board of Green Carbon. I also serve as a reviewer for 17 journals (SCI).

Courses taught

Undergraduate (Upper Division): “Environmental Toxicology”

Postgraduate Student: “Advances in Ecotoxicology”

Doctoral student: “Advanced Paper Writing”

Research field

We focus on the effects of emerging contaminants such as phthalates, perfluoroalkyl sulfonates, and engineered nanomaterials on soil organisms and aquatic organisms in different soil and water environments. At present, over 20 related papers have been published as the first or corresponding author. By combining our research direction, we popularize soil-related knowledge to people around us and appeal to everyone to pay attention to the ecological value of soil and protect the soil environment.

We have solved the three major problems of traditional devices, which can reduce energy consumption by 30%, reduce carbon emissions, realize the reduction, recycling, and harmless treatment of agricultural and forestry wastes such as garden garbage, and the follow-up products that can be used for soil remediation. This work promotes the research and development of environmental function restoration biochar and nano-biochar-based fertilizer projects and helps to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization. At present, three patents have been authorized.

With the goal of green and efficient prevention and control of crop diseases and relying on funding, we explored the key process and molecular mechanism of engineered nanomaterials in the prevention and control of rice blasts. The effects of engineered nanomaterials on soil organisms were explored by molecular docking, meta-analysis, and multi-omics to break through the bottlenecks.

Recent publications

A total of 39 SCI-indexed papers were published, with an h-index of 21. Among them, 23 SCI-indexed papers were published as the first author and corresponding author (one paper was selected as an ESI highly cited article, and 19 papers were published in the Top journal). Three utility model patents were authorized, and one invention patent was accepted.

Research Achievements and Awards

I presided over six scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China. I have won the honorary titles of Outstanding Member of the Youth Working Committee of the Soil Soil Society of China (2023), Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of Shandong Province (2022), and Doctoral Scholarship of Shanghai Tongji Gao Tingyao Environmental Science & Technology Development Foundation (2020).

Cultivation of Students

The team consists of 8 postgraduate students (2-3 per year) and 10 undergraduates. As the first instructor, I guided students to win 6 national prizes such as the first prize in the Class A competition, and 2 provincial prizes such as the first prize in the Class B competition, and was awarded the provincial excellent instructor. The guided undergraduates (2020) successfully obtained funding for the National College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program. We encourage students to actively participate in extracurricular activities to relax and relieve pressure and to devote themselves to overcoming difficulties in the future.
