The 2025 Global Summer School at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) commenced on June 28, uniting 1,733 students and faculty members from 23 countries. HUST President You Zheng announced the opening, with Vice-president Zhang Yonghui delivering welcome remarks.
With the theme "Intelligence Without Borders, Innovation for the Future", this year's summer school features academic seminars, field studies, and cultural experiences designed to foster critical thinking and interdisciplinary dialogue among young scholars.
Speaking on behalf of the faculty, Dushan Boroyevich, member of the US National Academy of Engineering, underscored the value of cross-cultural collaboration and encouraged students to push academic boundaries. Professor Li Jing, associate dean of HUST's School of Public Administration, introduced the "Decoding Chinese Governance Intelligence" program, which helps students gain firsthand insights into China's modernization and innovation practices.
Student representatives also shared their expectations. Ertugrul Kara, a master's student at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, looked forward to deepening global knowledge sharing and cultural connections.
This year's program includes 25 sub-projects across four core modules, organized by 29 HUST departments and taught by 196 professors from around the world. As part of HUST's "Global Development Strategy 2030", the Global Summer School continues to grow in scale and international impact.
