Abstract

Conjugated coordination polymers (CCPs) have emerged as a family of multifunctional materials due to their predictable and diverse structures, good stability, high electrical conductivity and controllable ordered nanopores. The unique properties of CCPs make them promising for various applications such as semiconductors, superconductors, memory devices, sensors and electrochemical devices. In this spotlight article, we will highlight the recent advances in conjugated coordination polymers as electrodes for rechargeable batteries, particularly based on the research activities carried out at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The applications of CCPs in batteries not only provide a promising versatile platform for high performance batteries, but also help to reveal the chemical states of CCPs that have a strong relationship with the synthesis and still have controversies in the previous literatures. Finally, the current challenges and future development of CCPs as electrode materials for rechargeable batteries are also discussed.
