题目:Design and control of a new power conditioning system based on SMES

Power fluctuations in the grid from the generating side or the user side can be compensated by energy storage devices. Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) is one of the best energy storage forms at present because of its high power density and fast response. In previous power conditioning system (PCS) of SMES, the superconducting inductor always undergoes high frequency overvoltage during normal operation, which leads to the rapid aging of the coil and the decrease of its service life. In this paper, a new circuit scheme of power conditioning system is proposed, the model predictive control (MPC) method based on the new scheme is given, the overall control strategy is introduced, and the software implementation process for MPC is optimized to reduce the implementation of MPC algorithm time. Simulation and experiment show that the new PCS can not only solve the overvoltage problem of superconducting inductor from the source but also reduce the power tracking error of the superconducting energy storage system. By these software optimization measures, the MPC algorithm can be finished within 10μs, then PCS can use GaN power semiconductor to increase switching frequency. Finally, the portability and response speed of SMES can be significantly improved to make SMES used in more situations.
