Double layers shape-stabilized phase change material (SSPCM) wallboard could improve building indoor thermal comfort both in summer and winter. The exterior and interior layer was active in summer and winter, respectively. In order to study thermal performance of building integrated with double layers SSPCM wallboards in real weather conditions without air conditioner, two simplified experimental rooms were developed in Wuhan city. The envelope construction properties of the two rooms were the same except the PCM room had double SSPCM layers on south wall. The summer experiment was conducted from 10th July to 3rd September in 2017. The winter experiment was conducted from 20th November, 2017 to 19th January, 2018. According to the continuous measurement data in summer and winter, indoor air temperature, interface temperature and heat flow of wall surface were collected. The indoor air temperature in PCM room was 1.9 degrees C lower in maximal and 0.6 degrees C lower in average than that in reference room in summer. The indoor air temperature in PCM room was 1.3 degrees C lower in maximal and 0.1 degrees C higher in average than that in reference room in winter. The experiment results showed that PCM room could prevent overheating in summer and undercooling in winter compared with reference room.
