Profile

Dr. Jinwen Wang has been holding a full professorship at Huazhong University of Science and Technology since 2010, and is serving as a consultant to Natural Heritage Institute in USA. He received his Bachelor, Master and Doctor Degrees from Hohai University (1996), Kunming University of Science & Technology (1999) and Huazhong University of Science & Technology (2003), respectively. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at École Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada) during 03/2007-08/2008, as a visiting professor at Cornell University (USA) during 09/2013-08/2014. Prof. Wang is particularly interested in developing and applying optimization techniques to solve engineering problems in water resources management, especially in hydropower reservoir operation. Part of his works can be found published in Water Resources Research (AGU), Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management (ASCE), Energy Conversion and Management (Elsevier), Energy (Elsvier), Water Resources Management (Springer), etc. His teaching courses include "Modeling Methods of Water Resources Systems" at graduate level, "Hydrological Principles" at undergraduate level, as well as part of the "Applied Hydrology" at MOOC.
