Personal Profile
Prof. Yuan Pingpeng, supervisor of doctorate candidates, is a senior member of Chinese Computer Federation. His research interests involves in the fields of database, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, and natural language processing, including data-intensive computing, question answering, and Chinese character embedding. Now, he mainly explores novel theories, methods, systems, and applications for big data management methods and NLP. We have developed multiple systems including TripleBit, PathGraph and SemreX, among which the graph database TripleBit (stand-alone version, subsequent parallel version and distributed version) and the graph computing system PathGraph consist of complete tools for big graph processing.
He has undertaken and participated in many major research projects, which were funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 973 Project, the Hubei Development and Reform Commission Project, the China - Hungary International Cooperation Project, the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Province.
The students he surpervised received academic awards. For example, one undergraduate was awarded the Excellent Bachelor's Degree Thesis of Hubei Province in 2009. Two undergraduates won the first prize (2009) and the third prize (2008) of the Excellent Graduation Design (Thesis) Award of Huazhong University of Science and Technology respectively. The two postgraduate students were awarded Excellent Master's Degree Theses of Hubei Province.
