BAO Hua, Party Secretary of the Yantai Huang-Bohai New Area, Leads Delegation to HEU for Research and Collaboration

On December 24, BAO Hua, a Member of the Standing Committee of the Yantai Municipal Party Committee and Party Secretary of the Huang-Bohai New Area, led a delegation to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to explore opportunities for research and collaboration. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on advancing the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, as well as fostering talent development.GAO Yan, Party Secretary of HEU, welcomed the delegation and delivered opening remarks. The meeting was presided over by President SONG Yingdong, with Vice President Han Duanfeng and Assistant to the President Chen Hailong—who also serves as Director of the Yantai Research Institute—also in attendance.

GAO Yan extended a warm welcome to BAO Hua and his delegation, offering a brief overview of the university’s key achievements. He emphasized that HEU would continue to capitalize on its strengths in marine and core disciplines, aiming to remain at the forefront of scientific innovation while advancing marine-related strategies. GAO further stressed the importance of driving technological breakthroughs, strengthening university-industry partnerships, and accelerating the commercialization of research outcomes to support regional economic and social development.

SONG Yingdong highlighted the university's commitment to open, collaborative development and expressed a desire to expand the scope of partnerships. He underscored the importance of deepening collaboration and identifying strategic entry points for cooperation. Song also emphasized the need for closer integration between industry, academia, and research to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem that would drive high-quality development.

BAO Hua expressed his commitment to strengthening future collaboration with HEU, with a focus on accelerating the application of scientific and technological advancements. He emphasized the importance of supporting the transformation and upgrading of marine equipment, as well as advancing green, low-carbon development. BAO also stressed the need to empower new industries and invigorate regional economic and social progress.

CHEN Hailong provided an overview of HEU’s development initiatives in Yantai, Shandong Province, and highlighted the university’s educational contributions to the region.
