The First Academic Exchange Conference on Ocean Development Hosted by Harbin Engineering University and the South China Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources

On December 22nd, the inaugural Academic Exchange Conference on Ocean Development, organized by Harbin Engineering University (HEU) in collaboration with the South China Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, was held at HEU. XIE Jian, Deputy Director of the South China Sea Bureau, and YIN Jingwei, Vice President of HEU, attended the event and delivered keynote speeches.

The conference aimed to explore the forefront of technological innovation in marine resource development. It focused on key scientific issues, core technologies, and the application of new equipment in marine development. The event also sought to identify new pathways for advancing marine technological innovation.

YIN Jingwei emphasized that HEU has always valued its partnership with the South China Sea Bureau and expressed hope for deepening collaboration in key areas such as marine ecological protection, environmental exploration, surveying and charting, and marine resource development. He further noted that HEU is committed to addressing critical technological challenges to foster industrial innovation, thereby supporting the sustainable development of China’s marine industry and economy.

XIE Jian provided an overview of the South China Sea Bureau's achievements in technological innovation and highlighted the strong foundation for collaboration between the two parties. He emphasized that the Bureau would leverage its strengths to work closely with HEU on marine technology research, aiming to integrate efforts in scientific research, talent development, and the application of technological innovations. Together, they aim to contribute to the development of the South China Sea region and support China's goal of becoming a maritime power.

During the conference, experts engaged in extensive discussions on how to drive the rapid development of marine equipment in the current context. They explored ways to optimize industry structure, promote the integration of industry, education, and research, and support the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements in marine ecological protection, environmental exploration, and resource development.
