On November 11, Robert Koglek, a faculty member from the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI), Austria, visited Hefei University of Technology and delivered a special lecture for undergraduate students in the "Smart Elderly Care" course at the Feicui Lake campus.
Mr. Koglek analyzed the aging population in Austria, noting that 19.5% of the population is over 65 years old, with 80% of elderly people opting for home care. This has increased the demand for smart elderly care technologies. During the lecture, he provided an in-depth introduction to the applications of remote healthcare, smart homes, artificial intelligence, and cognitive support, showcasing real-world examples of how smart sensors, automated lighting control, and virtual reality are improving the quality of life for the elderly. The students showed a keen interest in the Evondos medication dispensing system and the Suvanto Care remote monitoring system, engaging in discussions with Mr. Koglek on how these technologies could be localized for elderly care services in China.
The Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) holds a prominent position in the European higher education system. This teaching activity represents an important step in our school 's efforts to internationalize education. It also strengthens the cooperation between Chinese and Austrian universities and advances educational and technological exchanges in the field of smart elderly care.
