Appointment Ceremony for Academician Bao Hua Jia as Adjunct Professor and Academic Seminar at the School of Physics

On the morning of September 12, the School of Physics held an appointment ceremony for Academician Bao Hua Jia of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering as an adjunct professor, along with an academic seminar, in the fourth conference room of the Feicui Scientific and Educational Building. Hu Xiaoxuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, leaders from the School of Physics, as well as some faculty and student representatives attended the ceremony. The appointment ceremony was presided over by Zhang Yi, Deputy Director of the Office of High-Level Talents at the Human Resources Department. Professor Xia Haojie, Dean of the School of Instrument Science and Opto-Electronic Engineering, was invited as a special guest.

  At the ceremony, Professor Gao Weiqing, Dean of the School of Physics, briefly introduced the biography and main academic achievements of Academician Bao Hua Jia. Deputy Secretary Hu Xiaoxuan introduced the development of Hefei University of Technology and presented the appointment letter to Academician Bao Hua Jia. Deputy Secretary Hu expressed gratitude and a warm welcome to Academician Jia for his willingness to contribute to the high-quality development of the university’s discipline construction and graduate education. He emphasized that Academician Jia’s involvement would greatly enhance the rapid development of the physics discipline and boost Hefei University of Technology's influence and competitiveness on the international stage.

Academician Bao Hua Jia expressed that he was honored to be appointed as an adjunct professor at Hefei University of Technology. He acknowledged the university's distinctive educational characteristics and noted the rapid development of the School of Physics in recent years. He looks forward to applying his academic expertise to deepen collaboration between Hefei University of Technology and RMIT University, contributing to high-level scientific research, technology transfer, and the construction of world-class disciplines.

Following the appointment ceremony, Academician Jia delivered an academic report titled “Intelligent Laser Nanoprinting of Atomaterials and Integrated Optoelectronics Devices,” in which he introduced the current applications and vast potential of optical nanoprinting and 2D photonic integrated devices. He engaged in in-depth discussions with the attending faculty and students, creating a lively atmosphere.

Bao Hua Jia Bio.: Professor Bao Hua Jia is a professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America. He is a world-leading scientist in the fields of nanophotonics and integrated photonics. In the past decade, Professor Jia, either as project leader or key participant, has received over 70 million AUD (approximately 330 million CNY) in research funding from the Australian federal government, the Victorian state government, and industry. He has been the primary or co-inventor of over 20 inventions and patent applications. As the first author, corresponding author, or co-author, he has published more than 300 high-level academic papers in renowned journals and international conferences, including Chemical Reviews, Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, Nature Reviews Chemistry, and Advanced Materials. His academic achievements have been reported more than a thousand times by major media outlets both domestically and internationally. He has delivered over 80 invited and keynote speeches at major international conferences and has served as a chair or committee member for multiple international conferences. Since 2017, he has served as President of the Australian Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Association, and since 2023, he has been the founding Editor-in-Chief of npj Nanophotonics, a Springer Nature journal. For his outstanding contributions to scientific research, Professor Jia has received numerous honors, including the 2023 Distinguished Professor Award from RMIT University and the 2021 Australian Research Council Future Fellow award.
