Crossing 9,000 Kilometers: The Head of Cambridge Language & Culture Programme Lands at Ginkgo College

On December 5th, Stewart Eru, the person in charge of Cambridge’s Homerton and Selwyn Colleges professional development programs there, the founder and managing director of Cambridge Bluebridge Education, also a member of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, visited our college. He held a discussion with teachers and students on Cambridge Language & Culture Programme and the cultivation of internationally-minded talents at the University of Cambridge, and extended an invitation to Gingko students to visit the university.

At the exchange meeting, students from Gingko, filled with curiosity about this world-renowned institution, seized the opportunity to ask questions eagerly. Stewart patiently answered all inquiries, sharing insights into the academic courses and campus life of Cambridge students at this century-old university. He also provided an in-depth explanation of the content and significance of the Cambridge Language & Culture Programme , encouraging students to pursue their dreams of attending top global universities with relentless effort and clear goals.

The University of Cambridge is particularly drawn to talents who excel in independent thinking, critical reasoning, creative innovation, and deep comprehension. According to Stewart, the purpose of his visit to Gingko is to gain insights into the college’s student development system. He also aspires for students to seize the opportunity, facilitated by the college’s international exchange platforms, to join a global community of learners at the inclusive The University of Cambridge and to pursue their academic dreams among peers from around the world.

At the meeting, both sides discussed everything from Cambridge’s extracurricular life to the sport of rugby. Stewart mentioned that he is a seasoned rugby enthusiast and has served as the captain of Rugby Union’s Blue team in University of Cambridge. Our college’s rugby coach, Hou Siqi, shared the story of our women’s rugby team. Using rugby as a bond, both sides explored opportunities for cultural and sports cooperation and exchange.

The Executive Principal of Gingko, Yang Longtao, provided a detailed introduction to the college’s philosophy and achievements in physical education, international exchange, and the comprehensive development of students’ qualities. Both sides explored the potential for future cooperation in sports and cultural exchanges, such as holding intercollegiate rugby friendship matches, and expressed their anticipation of creating more opportunities for students and athletes to enhance themselves and broaden their horizons through such exchanges.

This summer, students of Gingko have stepped into the Cambridge campus through the school’s platform, experiencing the academic atmosphere firsthand and receiving professional guidance from Cambridge tutors.


At the exchange meeting, Liu, a participant in the Programme, shared her gains from her “Cambridge journey” as a representative of those who have been there. She mentioned that the tight schedule and immersive experience courses, through small-class teaching, interactive salons, and team projects, led to improvements in both language and professional skills. Liu Shuang mentioned that, more importantly, the trip helped her broaden her horizons and build self-confidence.
