Application of self-funded students
I. Qualification of applicants
(I) High school graduate or above, aged 18-30, in good physical and mental health (without color weakness or color blindness);
(II) Achieving good scores in High School Exit Exam (English and chemistry scores ≥ 80, and mathematics, physics and biology scores ≥ 70); or having good academic achievements during undergraduate study;
(III) Admission interview results (remote interview or school interview) must be above 70 (hundred-score system);
(IV) Applicants of the Clinical Medicine (MBBS Program taught in English) who are non-native English speakers must provide IELTS, TOEFL or other English test scores to prove their English language proficiency (IELTS score ≥ 6.0, with a score for each section ≥ 5.0; Internet-based TOEFL score ≥ 85 points, with a score for each section ≥ 20, or Paper-based TOEFL score ≥ 580); those who are native English-speaking speakers must submit official proof that all courses are taught in English during secondary school, but IELTS or TOEFL score report is not required;
(V) Applicants of various Chinese-taught programs must hold HSK4 Certificate or above, and provide test scores to prove it.
II. Programs
English-taught program: Clinical Medicine (MBBS Program) (6 years);
Chinese-taught programs:
Clinical Medicine, Basic Medical Science, Stomatological Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Anesthesiology, Medical Imageology, Clinical Pharmacy (5 years);
Bioinformatics, Public Affairs Management, Health Inspection and Quarantine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Rehabilitation Therapy, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Preparation, Biological Pharmacy, Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Applied Psychology (4 years).
III. Fees (MBBS) (in RMB)
Application fee: RMB 800
Tuition fee: RMB 35,000 per year
Accommodation fee: RMB 4,000 per year (double room)
Other fees including those for textbook, insurance, residence permit and physical examination are subject to the actual situation at the students’ own expenses.
IV. Settlement of tuition and accommodation fees
If any enrolled student decides not to continue the study for transfer, dropout, death or other reasons, the tuition and accommodation fees that have been paid shall be settled and refunded in the following way (based on the time of acceptance upon signature and seal by the college):
(I) If the student does not attend classes, 90% of the paid tuition and accommodation fees for an academic year will be refunded;
(II) If the student attends classes for less than one month, 80% of the paid tuition and accommodation fees for an academic year will be refunded;
(III) If the student attends classes for more than one month to one semester (included), 50% of the paid tuition and accommodation fees for an academic year will be refunded;
(IV) If the student attends classes for more than one semester, the tuition and accommodation fees that have been paid for the academic year will not be refunded;
(V) If the student is expelled from the university, the tuition and accommodation fees that have been paid for the academic year will not be refunded.
V. Accommodation and Living Conditions
Double rooms are provided, including living room, kitchen, washroom and bathroom, with air conditioner, water heater, refrigerator, broadband and other facilities available. The restaurants serve delicious dishes for students, and a restaurant is built for Muslim. All meals are at the students’ own expenses.
VI. Medical Insurance
All international students studying in China must purchase insurance covering the entire period of their study. All students pay insurance premiums to the insurance company for insurance on the registration day in the university. The students who do not purchase medical insurance within the specified time will not be registered in principle.

VIII. Application Procedures
(I) Online application
Applicant should register and submit the required documents through “Fujian Medical University Online Application System for International Students”
(II) Documents required (Scan copies of original document are required)
1. Valid passport (pages with photo and address);
2. Notarized highest diploma / degree / pre-graduation certificate. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
3. Notarized transcripts of the most advanced studies; transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
4. Financial Guarantee Statement and its relevant supporting documents: financial guarantee evidences that provided by the applicant's sponsor, for details please click here to download the sample statement;
5. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, which should be printed by Chinese quarantine authority and completed in English. The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner. Incomplete forms or those without a photograph or a sealed photograph of the applicant, the official stamp of the hospital or the signature of the attending physician are invalid. The medical result is valid for 6 months;
6. Other attachments (if any): Recommendation letter from school, no-criminal record certificate, English proficiency certificate, HSK report, study plan, etc.
(III) Review and admission
1. After the review of application materials, the eligible students will be offered an Acceptance Letter;
2. The eligible students will be offered an Admission Letter (original hard copy) and JW202 Form upon the approval of superior leaders, which indicates that they are formally admitted;
3. Application materials will not be returned to applicants regardless of the result of application.
Application for Chinese Government Scholarship
To deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the people of other countries, and to develop exchanges and cooperation between China and the rest of the world in various fields, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities. China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as “CSC”), entrusted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as “MOE”), is responsible for the enrollment and the administration of Chinese Government Scholarship programs. As Fujian Medical University is eligible to admit students receiving the Chinese Government Scholarship, applicants can consult and apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study or the Chinese Embassy (Consulate General) in their home countries. I. Chinese Government Scholarship Programs
(I) Bilateral Program
This includes full or partial scholarships in accordance with the educational exchange agreements or consensus between the Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities or international organizations. It supports undergraduate students, graduate students, doctoral students, general scholars and senior scholars.
Applicants shall apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of their home countries.
(II) University Program
The program is designed to finance the study of talented international students in China that are directly selected and recommended by designated Chinese universities. The supporting student categories are various which is subject to the requirements of each of these universities.

II. Supporting Categories, Duration, Instruction Language, Institutions and Majors
(I) Supporting Categories: Undergraduate students
(II) Duration: Chinese Government Scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The language courses last one year, whereas the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.
(III) Instruction language:
Undergraduate scholarship recipients are taught in Chinese. They are required to take one-year preparatory courses in the designated university and to pass the required test before moving on to their major studies.
Undergraduate scholarship recipients can apply for preparatory course exemption if they have completed their secondary education in Chinese or have a valid HSK report that meets the requirements of the host university. Official documents from secondary schools evidencing that the required courses are taught in Chinese or a photocopy of a valid HSK report must be submitted for a preparatory course exemption application. Please NOTE that HSK report is valid for only two years.
Scholarship recipients of Chinese-taught programs without adequate Chinese proficiency must take Chinese language courses for one to two academic years to reach the language requirements of their host universities before moving on to their major studies. Failure to reach the required language proficiency will lead to the automatic termination of scholarship.
Scholarship recipients of the English-taught programs or those with adequate Chinese language proficiency do not need to take Chinese language courses.

III. Coverage and Standard (in RMB)
It covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance. For more details, please refer to “Introduction to Chinese Government Scholarships”: http://www.campuschina.org/zh/content/details1003_122933.html.
(I) Tuition fee: Tuition fees will be comprehensively used by the host university. It may cover scholarship students’ education, administration costs and expenditures to support student activities, including cultural and sports activities, visits and parties.
(II) Accommodation fee: RMB 700 per month; the university will provide free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy. Accommodation fees will be comprehensively used by the host university. If the host university requires students to live on campus, the university will accommodate the scholarship students in a university dormitory (usually a twin room); if the host university permits students to live off campus, the university will provide monthly / quarterly accommodation subsidy.
(III) Living expenses: RMB 2,500 per month, which is to be paid by the host university on a monthly basis. Students registering on or before the 15th day of the month will receive a full living expense of that month. Those who register after the 15th day of the month will receive a half living expense of that month. Graduating students will receive living expense until half month after the graduation date. If a scholarship student stays out of China for more than 15 days for personal reason (normal holidays excluded), his / her living expense will be suspended during his leaving.

IV. Eligibility
(I) Any applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good physical health (without color blindness or weakness);
(II) Requirements for education background and age: high school graduates aged 25 or younger with outstanding academic results.
V. Application Procedure
(I) Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of their home countries for getting recommended as an eligible candidate;
(II) Complete the online application procedure at “CGS Information Management System for International Students” (Log on http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org and click “Application Online” to log in), submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. Please consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for instructions of “CGS Information Management System for International Students” and “Agency Number”. The Agency Number of Fujian Medical University is 10392;
(III) Submit all your application documents to Fujian Medical University before the deadline.
Note: Only applications of recommended candidates from designated Chinese universities will be considered by CSC.
VI. Application Documents (required in duplicate)
(I) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written in Chinese or English);
(II) Notarized highest diploma. If you are a currently enrolled student, you must submit a certificate issued by your current school to prove your current student status. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English should be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
(III) Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
(IV) A Study and Research Plan written in Chinese or English (not less than 200 Chinese characters / English words);
(V) An applicant shall submit a valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within six months prior to the submission date of the application.;
(VI) Applicants under the age of 18 must submit the relevant legal documents about their statutory guardians in China;
(VII)Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, which should be printed by Chinese quarantine authority and completed in English. The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner. Incomplete forms or those without a photograph or a sealed photograph of the applicant, the official stamp of the hospital or the signature of the attending physician are invalid. The medical result is valid for 6 months;
(VIII) Attach a copy of HSK report (if available) with the application materials.
All documents should be provided with clear scan copied of the original files and ensure that the borders are neat. Application materials will not be returned to applicants regardless of the result of application.
VII. Admission and Notice
(I) Application documents of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be considered by CSC for eligibility and qualification. Ineligible applicants or unsatisfactory application materials will not be considered;
(II) Qualified applications will be sent to universities for admission. Based on various factors, such as the different scholarship funding requirements of every country, the host university’s teaching capacity, length of schooling and applicants’ criteria, CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments to the candidate’s host university, program, supporting category and duration of scholarship. Applications enclosed with the Pre-admission Letter will be sent to the universities who issued that Letter for confirmation;
(III) After confirmation by Chinese universities, scholarship recipients will get Chinese Government Scholarships to study in China with approval by CSC. Each scholarship recipient will be granted with no more than one scholarship;
(IV) CSC will send the List of Scholarship Recipients, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to relevant universities, which will deliver them to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of scholarship recipients’ home countries or the scholarship recipients before July 31;
(V) Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change their host university, program or duration of study;
(VI) Scholarship will not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline.
