Fujian Medical University, founded in 1937, is one of the earlier public undergraduate medical colleges and universities in China. It is a “double first-class” construction university in Fujian Province with a complete talent training system in the medical-oriented multidisciplinary coordinated development. It is a university co-founded by The People’s Government of Fujian Province and the National Health Commission, and a health talent training center, a medical science research center, and a medical and health service center in Fujian. Its comprehensive strength ranks among the advanced medical colleges of the same kind in China.

Our university currently has two campuses, Qishan Campus and Wushan Campus, with a planned area of approximately 1,550 acres. It has 14,742 teaching and medical staff (including its affiliated hospitals), and over 18,000 full-time students. There are 1,664 full-time teachers (including its clinical teachers), of which over 57.09% have doctoral degrees and 68.63% senior professional titles. It has 53 national high-level talents and 2 winners of the “Nightingale” Medal; there are 4 national characteristic majors and 11 national first-class undergraduate major construction points; there are 6 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 2 doctoral degree authorization points, 9 first-level disciplines authorized for master’s degrees, and 9 master’s degree authorization points; there are 2 mobile postdoctoral research stations in clinical medicine and basic sciences, 4 postdoctoral workstations and 2 academician workstations. Six disciplines, including clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, chemistry, neuroscience and behavioral science, biology and biochemistry, and molecular biology and genetics, have entered the top 1% of ESI Global Rankings. There are 6 provincial first-class disciplines such as Clinical Medicine, Medicine, Basic Sciences.

Our university has 4 directly affiliated hospitals, including Affiliated Union Hospital, Affiliated First Hospital, Affiliated Second Hospital, and Affiliated Stomatological Hospital, as well as 7 clinical medical schools. There are 21 national key clinical specialties in the affiliated hospitals, such as Neurology, Department of Hematology, Cardiovascular Great Vessels Surgery, and General Surgery. Affiliated Union Hospital and Affiliated First Hospital are the first batch of high-level hospitals constructed in Fujian, both of which have entered the “Top 100 Chinese Hospitals Ranking” of the Hospital Management Research Institute of Fudan University.

Fujian Medical University is one of the universities announced by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China that is qualified to enroll clinical medical undergraduate (English teaching) international students. Since September 2009, it has officially enrolled students. Its international students come from over 50 countries, including India, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Pakistan, Thailand, Kenya, Somalia, Iran, Zambia, and the United States, with a total of over 700 international students enrolled and trained.

 I. Application Conditions

1. Masters degree candidate: Under the age of 36, physically and mentally healthy (without color blindness or color weakness), with a bachelor’s degree or above in the same or similar major as the applied major, and a non-Chinese citizen who has obtained the corresponding bachelor’s degree.

2. Doctoral candidate: Under the age of 40, physically and mentally healthy (without color blindness or color weakness), and a non-Chinese citizen with a degree equivalent to a masters degree from a Chinese university

3. Those whose parents (one or both) are  Chinese citizens and have settled in a foreign country, who have foreign nationality at the time of their birth, and who immigrate from Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan to foreign countries, as applicants for studying in China, must hold valid foreign passports or international certification documents for at least 4 years, and there is a record of actual residence abroad for at least 2 years in the past 4 years (as of April 30th of the enrollment year).

4. Language Proficiency Requirements

(1) To apply for a professional master’s degree in Clinical Medicine, Oral Medicine, the applicants should know that their HSK level must be at level 5 or above.

(2) Applicants for Chinese teaching programs must have proof of HSK5 or other equivalent Chinese proficiency tests. Applicants whose Medium of instruction during the whole learning period of the highest academic qualification is Chinese can be exempted from the certification of Chinese test results, but must submit the certification of Chinese teaching issued by the graduation college or university.

(3) Applicants for the English Teaching Program: For those whose native language is not English, English language proficiency must be supported by IELTS, TOEFL, or other English test scores (IELTS score not less than 6.0, single item score not less than 5.0; Internet-based TOEFL score is not less than 85, single item score not less than 20, or paper-based TOEFL score is not less than 580) or other equivalent English test scores; for those whose native language is English, they should submit an official proof of full English teaching at the middle school stage are exempt from submitting IELTS or TOEFL score certificates.

III. Application Time

1. Non Chinese Government Scholarship Program: October 20th, 2023 to June 30th, 2024.

IV. Application Method

1. Non Chinese Government Scholarship applicants log on to the international student service platform of Fujian Medical University (http://hwjyxy.fjmu.edu.cn), complete the online application, and upload the required application materials.

V. Application Materials

1. A scanned copy of the valid passport information page;

2. Certified highest education certificate/pre-graduation certificate (original scanned copy and English translation copy);

3. Notarized transcripts of all courses at the educational stage of the highest degree (original scanned copy and English translation copy);

4. ID photo (blue background 2-inch bareheaded photo);

5. Fujian Medical Universitys Letter of Financial Guarantee for International Students in China, scanned copies of guarantee materials, and financial resources such as personal financial resources or family support, government support, financial guarantor support, etc.;

6. A scanned copy of the original Foreigner Physical Examination Form, which is uniformly printed by the Chinese health and quarantine department and must be filled out in Chinese or English;

7. Proof of language proficiency;

8. Study and Research Plan in China (in Chinese or English, no less than 800 words)

9. Two Letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors;

10. Pre-Acceptance Letter from the Supervisor of Fujian Medical Universitys Postgraduate Studying in China;

11. Published academic papers or achievements (required for applicants to pursue a doctoral degree).

 Regardless of admission or not, the above materials will not be returned.

VI. Review and Admission

The university reviews the completeness and authenticity of the applicants materials, and professional departments conduct assessments through interviews (academic assessments) based on the applicants situation and professional requirements.

 The pre-admission notice will be announced in batches starting from December 2023, and applicants for self-funded program must confirm the prepayment of tuition fees within the deadline; otherwise, it will be considered as a waiver of pre-admission qualifications.

 Applicants can check the admission results on the international student service platform of Fujian Medical University, which will then send the admission notice with its official seal, and the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW201/JW202).

 After receiving the Admission Notice and Application Form for Foreign Students to Study in China (JW201/JW202), applicants must present the above materials, the original and photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Record, as well as their valid ordinary passport, to apply for a study visa in China to visa agencies stationed abroad as the Chinese Embassy (Consulate General).

VII. Registration Time

The enrollment time is now set in September 2024, whose specific time will be based on the Admission Notice

Freshmen shall bring the original documents such as the Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW201/JW202), personal passport, medical examination certificate, etc. to School of Overseas Education to register and complete the registration procedures according to the deadline specified in the Admission Notice. Those who cannot report on time due to certain reasons should obtain the Schools consent in advance. Those who fail to report on time without approval shall be deemed to have waived their admission qualifications.

 VIII. Charging Standards

1. Registration Fee: RMB 800 per person (all registration fees are non refundable)

2.Tuition Fee

Masters degree: RMB 38,000 per academic year;

Doctoral student: RMB 40,000 per academic year;

3. Accommodation Fee: RMB 4,000/person/academic year (double room);

4. Other Expenses: Those for teaching materials, meals, medical care, dormitory, water, electricity, Internet, comprehensive insurance, and residence permit application shall be paid by international students based on the actual situation.

 The above content is for reference, and the specific fee standard is based on the pricing during the enrollment period.

 The students who have obtained  full scholarship from the Chinese Government are exempt from registration fees, tuition fees, accommodation fees, and comprehensive medical insurance premiums.

IX. Scholarship Program

International students who have not obtained the Chinese Government Scholarship can apply for Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in China.
