Overseas Education College organized 12 international students from Ghana, Tanzania,Zambia and Nigeria to visit children in Fuzhou Living Hope Children’s Home on the morning of June 6, 2015.
These students gave small gifts, such asbooks, school supplies, toys and snacks, to children and performed exotic songsfor them. Children and students sat around to sing happily together and played interesting games such as power running, three-legged race, and so on. Although some children were unable to communicate normally with others, we could deeply feel from their facial expressions andeye contact that they really liked these special “big friends”.
When it was the time to leave, students expressed the desire to become long-term volunteers of the Children’s House and expected to often visit children. Gloria from Ghana said, “I feel veryhappy. These children remind me of my brothers and sisters. I love them and Iam willing to do more for them.” Before the activity, international students made full preparations for the activity including carrying out donations and preparing gifts. They also asked the counselor to provide guidance for them on means of communication and etiquette.
