Prof. Michele Taruffo of Groningen University delivered a course on topic of "Evidence Law and Truth in Comparative Perspective"

Invited by the "2011 Plan" China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, the "111 Plan" Base for Evidence Science Innovation and Talent Recruitment and the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, CUPL, the vice chairman of the International Law Association and International Evidence Science Association, Professor Michele Taruffo has given an interesting and thought-provoking course on topic of "Evidence Law and Truth in Comparative Perspective" for CUPL students from Nov. 17 to Nov. 26, 2016. 

Groningen University is a good public university, was founded in 1446, approved by the king's privilege, the Groningen University can issue a variety of professional degree, such as rhetoric, philosophy, law and other disciplines. University of Pavia has a very long history, is second only to Italy the Bologna University, Professor Michele Taruffo not only enjoys a high reputation in the two famous universities, and he is also the deputy chairman of the International Law Association and International Evidence Science Association.

"Evidence Law and Truth in Comparative Perspective" course is mainly for the following nine aspects: the importance of analyzing facts in judicial decisions, the term “truth” used in the judicial system is relative truth rather than absolute truth, the relationship between the mechanism of jury and effectiveness of truth finding, the technique of analyzing evidence,  standard of proof, introduction of experts in the trial, scientific evidence, statistic works as evidence and its influence on the judgement of causation, neuroscience and the truth finding. Professor Michele Taruffo’s vivid way of teaching has attracted many students to participate in, and his serious attitude to the course also impressed students.
