Mr. David Caruso: Miscarriages of Justice in Western Legal Systems: Causes, Review and Effect

Invited by the “2011 Plan” China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, the "111 Plan" Base for Evidence Science Innovation and Talent Recruitment and the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, CUPL, Mr. David Caruso from Adelaide Law School successfully gave seven inspiring and interesting lectures on topic of “Miscarriages of Justice in Western Legal Systems: Causes, Review and Effect” for CUPL graduate students from April 12th to April 21st, 2017.

The University of Adelaide, Australia, is one of the eight elite schools of the Australian Ivy League, and is rated as a five-star university in Australia. Its law school also enjoys a high reputation. Mr. David Caruso is also a well-known scholar in the field of Evidence Law.

The lectures lasted for nine days and has mainly focused on the following parts: POLICE INVESTIGATION, CHARGES AND PARTY OBLIGATIONS, TRIAL FUNDAMENTALS, THE JURY IN THE CRIMINAL TRIAL, HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF CRIMINAL APPEAL IN COMMONWEALTH NATIONS, IDENTIFYING MOJ AND SECONDARY APPEALS FRAMEWORK and the MOCK TRIAL. In addition to lectures, Mr. David Caruso added a lot of discussion sessions to give students a deeper understanding of the principles and procedures of criminal proceedings in Australia.
