Institute of Russian Studies

外国语学院 2019/11/14 20:26

The Institute of Russian Studies was born from the Section of Non-Universal Language Teaching and Research of the School of Foreign Studies, and became independent in 2015. The Institute mainly engages in the cultivation of postgraduate students majoring in Russian studies and offers courses of the Russian language for students majoring in other disciplines.

Featuring the interdisciplinary research of Russian studies and law, the Institute takes full advantage of the rich legal resources of CUPL to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with both proficient Russian skills and knowledge of law.

Faculty members of the Institute have proficient Russian skills, legal knowledge and overseas experience. Over the past two decades, the Institute has made remarkable achievements in legal Russian translation and studies, and has translated dozens of major Russian laws, accumulating rich practical experience and laying a solid foundation for the development of this discipline. At present, the teaching and research of the Institute in legal translation of Russian-speaking countries leads the domestic peers.

The Institute cooperated with Russian universities to provide joint training programs for its students. Students may choose to study in Russian universities for one semester or one year at their second year of postgraduate study to strengthen basic language skills, study Russian law and improve comprehensive research abilities.

The enrollment of postgraduates majoring in Russian studies started in 2012. Every year, three students are enrolled and the program has two directions i.e. legal Russian translation and studies on Russian-speaking countries.
