2023 Spring Semester International Students Prospectus of Capital Normal University

I. Brief Introduction to CNU

Capital Normal University (CNU) is a national “Double-First Class” university co-sponsored both by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Education (MOE). CNU offers multiple disciplines including literature, science, engineering, management, law, education, foreign language and art etc. Capital Normal University (CNU) is one of the first 23 universities qualified for Chinese language teaching for international students in China, which could be traced back to the year of 1965. The university enrolls approximately 2,000 international students for long-term and short-term programs each year.


CNU is located next to the West 3rd Ring Road of Beijing, with convenient transportation and first-class teachers. It has the best teaching facilities and international student dorm in Beijing. Now, it is entitled to Demonstration Base for International Students Education of Ministry of Education, Preparatory Education for International Students, Talent Training Base for "Belt and Road" Countries, HSK Testing Center and Beijing Chinese Language Education Base.


CNU offers various scholarships, such as Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship. We welcome outstanding young people from all over the world to study at Capital Normal University!


II. Programs and Teaching Methods

In the spring semester of 2023, Chinese language related programs will be open to international students. CNU will adopt a combination of online and offline teaching methods. The specific teaching methods will be determined according to the entry policies of relevant departments of the Chinese government.

III. Application Requirements

1. Applicants for undergraduate programs must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health. According to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, if one or both parents are Chinese citizens and have settled in a foreign country, they will not have Chinese nationality if they are born with foreign nationality. If the student applies to study in our university as an international student, In addition to meeting other registration qualifications of the school, the applicant should also hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actually living in a foreign country for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (as of April 30 of the enrollment year) (actually living in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to the entry and exit stamp);

2. Requirements for applicant's educational background, age and Chinese proficiency:

To apply for the self-funded Chinese language undergraduate program, the applicant should have obtained a high school diploma; the age is under 40, HSK3 grade 210 or above.

3. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit photocopies of their parents' passports, birth certificates (in Chinese or English), 2 notarial certificates of guardians, photocopies of guardian's identity cards, and photocopies of residence permit for non-Beijing guardian.

4. Transferred student in China should submit the Transfer Certificate issued by the former university.


. Application Procedure

1. Log in the application system (https://cnu.17gz.org/) and register an account. Fill out the application information and upload the scanned copy of supporting documents according to requirements.

2. After passing the application check, applicants can pay the application fee online. Once the application fee is paid, it will not be refunded.

3. Applicants can log in CNU international student online application system to check the admission result after paying the application fee. Affected by the epidemic situation, the Admission Notice and the Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form) will be sent to applicants according to the entry policy.

.Scholarship
Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship is available for students who meet the standards during the study at CNU.


.Visa

Admitted students should apply for a student visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate with the Admission Notice and the Visa Application for Study in China (JW201/202). Those who will study for 6 months or above should apply for X1 visa, and need to change X1 visa into residence permit at the International Student Office within 30 days after arriving in China. Students who will study in China within 6 months can apply for X2 visa.


.Insurance

According to the regulations of Ministry of Education of China, international students in China must purchase medical insurance in China. Students can purchase medical insurance on the day of registration. The university will not register for those who have not purchased medical insurance.
