One-year Chinese Languae Training Program
Dating back to 1905 when Tongzhou Normal University was established, Capital Normal University (CNU) was founded in 1954. As a top university included in China’s Double First-Class Initiative and a province-ministry co-constructed university co-constructed by Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Education, CNU is an important base for talent cultivation in Beijing. The university began to recruit international students since 1965, and it is one of the first 23 universities with the qualification of accepting international students in China. It is the demonstration base for studying in China awarded by the Ministry of Education, and it is also the preparatory education base for undergraduate students who come to China under the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Overseas Chinese Education Base of Beijing, and the Beijing Belt and Road National Talents Cultivation Base.
CNU has rich experience in training international students, and the training system for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree students is complete. Education and Chinese language and literature disciplines are Class A disciplines in China (Top 10%), and international Chinese education major ranks 7th in China. The School of Pre-school Education is the cradle of the excellent kindergarten teachers in Beijing, and has made important contributions to the development of pre-school education in Beijing.
In 2023, CNU and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation jointly established the "Capital Normal University International Chinese Teachers Scholarship". It is planned to recruit 40 students, with 2 years master's degree program and 1 year Chinese language training program. The teaching language is Chinese; International students who are interested in international Chinese education and pre-school education are welcome to register.
Ⅰ. Scholarship Coverage
Full scholarship: including tuition, accommodation, living expenses and medical insurance.
Ⅱ. Eligibility
1. Applicants should be physically and mentally healthy, and have excellent academic performance.
2. Master’s degree candidates should be non-Chinese citizens with a bachelor’s degree or above. Chinese Language training program candidates should be non-Chinese citizens with a high school diploma or above . The age should be under 35 (as of September 1st, 2023).
3. The requirements set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met for CNU international graduate applicants.
4. Language Requirements: Master’s program applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 of HSK Test (Level 5) and 60 of HSKK Test (Intermediate), Chinese Language program applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 of HSK Test (Level 3).
IV. Application Method
1. Log in to the International Chinese Teachers Scholarship Application Website (cis.chinese.cn) and select the Cooperative University program.
2. Please communicate with the recommending organization in the system to obtain the qualification.
3. Fill in the recommended institution and choose Chinese + vocational and technical training (master's degree).
4. Choose the major to apply for (one-year Chinese study/master of international Chinese education/master of Chinese + preschool education program).
5. Select Capital Normal University, fill in the personal information, upload attachment and submit the application.
6. Log in to the international student service system of Capital Normal University and upload the application materials. Registration website: https://cnu.17gz.org/.
V. List of application materials
1. For all applicants
1) a scanned copy of passport photo page
2) a scanned copy of Test Report Form of HSK and HSKK (within the two-year validity)
3) a reference letter by the head of the recommending institutions
4) the foreigner physical examination form
2. For Master’s degree program applicants
5) a certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official transcript.
6) Master’s degree program candidates are required to provide 2 reference letters from professors or associate professors, and a Study Plan in Chinese(no less than 1000 words).
3. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China. The guardian needs to go to a local notary office in Beijing, and submit the notarization issued by the notary office to Capital Normal University.
4. Applicants shall also provide additional documents required by Capital Normal University.
VI. Admission Criteria
1. Applicants shall be proficient in academic Chinese reading and writing; applicants shall pass CNU’s document review and online interview, with strong learning and research abilities.
2. Overseas applicants and applicants with Confucius Institute recommendation letters are preferred.
VII. Important reminders on application documents
1. The materials uploaded in the system must be clear, true and effective. It is recommended that the applicant use professional equipment to scan the relevant documents to be submitted, and the consequences caused by unclear or unrecognizable materials shall be borne by the applicant.
2. All materials must be uploaded to the application system through electronic documents, and there is no need to send the original or photocopy to our school by express delivery.
3. The language of application materials are limited to Chinese or English; No matter whether the applicant is accepted or not, all application materials will not be returned. For non-Chinese/English application materials, notarized Chinese or English translations must be submitted.
4. Applicants are responsible for the authenticity of personal information and materials submitted. If it is inconsistent with the facts, Capital Normal University has the right to cancel its admission qualification, and for students with fake application materials who have entered the university, the student status and visa will be cancelled.
VIII. Admission Arrangements
Applicants who have passed academic document review will be shortlisted for online interviews. Interview time will be sent by e-mail. Therefore, the email address in the application system must be authentic and valid for a long time.
According to the interview results, CNU will select the best candidates and report to the Center for Language Education and Cooperation that will organize expert review. CNU will officially release final results after the expert review.The entry policy for international students shall be subjected to the regulations of the Chinese government.
