To meet the increasing demand of the international Chinese education teachers, and to promote the development of Chinese education around the world, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Center) has set up the international Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the scholarship), focusing on training qualified overseas Chinese teachers. Confucius Institute, independent Confucius Classroom, some HSK test centers (hereinafter referred to as recommending institutions) can recommend outstanding students and in-service local Chinese teachers to study Chinese language and related majors in Capital Normal University. The application for the 2024 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship is available and the system will be open for application from Sep. 25, details are as follows:

     

1. ELIGIBILITY      

All applicants shall be:    

1) non-Chinese citizens;        

2) in good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and conduct;        

3) committed to the Chinese language education and related work;        

4) between the ages of 18 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2023). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.

     

2. SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS 

Scholarship for One-Semester Study      

Enrollment in March 2024.      

The program provides scholarship for a maximum five-months.      

       

3. SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE     

Tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance.

     

4. APPLICATION PROCEDURES    

Starting from September 25, 2023, applicants can apply for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship by visiting the application website (cis.chinese.cn) and CNU International Student Service System.

1. Visit the scholarship website and check the recommending organizations and receiving institutions;

2. Submit the application materials online, and communicate with the recommending institutions to obtain the recommendation qualification;

3. After completing the CIS scholarship website registration, the applicant must complete the online registration procedures in the International Student Service System of Capital Normal University. Website: https://cnu.17gz.org/, applicants need to upload files and fill in information according to system requirements;

4. Pay attention to the application process, feedback and scholarship evaluation results;

5. Scholarship recipients could confirm with Capital Normal University to go through the procedures for studying in China and print the award certificate online;

6. Enroll in university according to the time specified in the admission letter of Capital Normal University.

     

5. APPLICATION DEADLINE (Beijing time)      

Nov. 15, 2023.

The Center for Language Education and Coopertion will entrust an expert panel to review the applications. The results will be available  three months before school starts.

     

6. ABOUT CHINESE TEACHERS AND CHINESE BRIDGE WINNERS    

1. For Local Chinese teachers

In-service Local Chinese teachers applying for various scholarships can provide in-service certificates and recommendation letters issued by the employment institutions, and are exempted from submitting HSK certificates.

2.     For Chinese Bridge Winners

If you have won the "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese Bridge competitions , please visit the website of International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship and submit the application documents to Capital Normal University with the scholarship certificate.

7. Application Documents      

Ⅰ. For all applicants    

a) a scanned copy of passport photo page;

b) a scanned copy of Test Report Form of HSK and HSKK (within the two-year validity);

c) a reference letter by the head of the recommending institutions;

d) the foreigner physical examination form.

e) a certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official transcript;

Ⅱ. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment as well as a reference letter by the employer.       

Ⅲ. Applicants shall also provide additional documents required by Capital Normal University.
