I. Brief Introduction to Capital Normal University
Dated back to the year of 1965, Capital Normal University (CNU) became one of the first 23 universities qualified for Chinese language teaching for international students in China. CNU enrolls approximately 2,500 international students for long-term and short-term programs each year.
So far CNU has set up 5 Confucius Institutes, 2 independent Confucius Classrooms and 1 Coordination Office for Confucius Classroom Consortium, CNU is the Demonstration Base for International Students Education of Ministry of Education, Base of Preparatory Education for International Students Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in China with Chinese Government Scholarship, Beijing's “Belt and Road” National training base, Chinese Language Education Base of Beijing Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and HSK testing center.
College of International Education of CNU has designed various types of online and on-site Chinese language courses. There are more than 50 professional teachers in CIE and all of them are well-experienced. 30 of them had obtained doctoral degrees, 30 were titled senior professional teachers. 80% of them have oversea teaching experience. Apart from winning awards in competitions during schooling time, CIE students contributed to Sino-foreign cultural communications after graduation. Our alumni later became simultaneous interpreters for national leaders. Some of them engaged in Chinese language teaching and literary translation. There are also students contributed significantly for business cooperation with Chinese economy.
II. Program Introduction
1.Prospective students
The program is designed for international non-Chinses native speaker who intend to improve Chinese and experience Beijing along with Chinese Culture . The age requirement is 16 – 45 years old. Applicants are expected to be in good health.
2.Time for Application / Study
Deadline for applications: July 31
Study period: Aug. 2-Aug. 13
Daily class hour: to be determined
We will try to make appropriate teaching plans for student groups or learners with other personalized needs.
3.Teaching Objectives
Through short-term Chinese and cultural courses and online experience, students will experience Chinese study learn Chinese language, Chinese traditional culture and contemporary China and Beijing, etc.
4.Curriculum Arrangement
There are 3 types of courses, Chinese Experience Course, Cultural Oriented Course, and Cultural Experience Course (including live streaming lessons). All types of courses are arranged alternately, focusing on sensorial experience.

5.Teaching Arrangement
2 academic hours per lesson, 10 lessons per week, 40 academic hours in two weeks at total. 4 credits offered.
III. Teaching Form
Online platforms: ZHUMU, Tencent Meeting, etc. (more information to be released before class)
VI. Tuition
Application Fee: RMB450
Tuition: RMB2,100
Each class require 5 students minimum to begin.
V. Application Procedure
1. Log in the registration system for international students of CNU: https://cnu.17gz.org/. Fill in personal information and upload application materials.
2. Pay the tuition. It can be paid through bank transfer. Please upload payment voucher in time.
3. After receiving the verification information of successful payment, learners can start the course.
VI. Preparation for Class
Please download WeChat APP and register an account. Make sure the email or other contact ways are available.
VII. Certificate
CNU will issue Certificate of Completion of CIE to the students attending the program. Students with excellent performance will have preference in admission and eligible for scholarship if they apply for award-seeking courses of Capital Normal University.
