Senior members of Beijing Institute of Technology and the Uzbekistan delegation
Rustam Karimjonov, deputy minister at Uzbekistan's Ministry of Digital Technologies, led a team to visit Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Dec 6.
Zhang Jun, secretary of the CPC BIT Committee, welcomed Karimjonov and his delegation to the Chinese capital before giving a rundown of BIT's achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, campus construction and international cooperation over the years.
Zhang suggested promoting the internationalization of talent cultivation through smart education, establishing a cooperation platform to promote high-level research collaboration between the two sides, and deepening collaboration by establishing overseas campuses.

Karimjonov thanked BIT for the warm welcome, saying that China and Uzbekistan enjoy a close relationship, with frequent interactions between the leaders of both countries. The visit to BIT was an important stop on the delegation's trip to China, he added.
Karimjonov said he agreed with Zhang on his opinions, engaging in dialogue and working to implement specific areas of cooperation.
Karimjonov proposed initiatives for mutual exchanges between teachers and students, as well as knowledge sharing, to cultivate high-quality talents in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, big data and cybersecurity. He suggested the joint establishment of a hub for science and education in the field of information technology in Uzbekistan, connecting countries in Central Asia and the Middle East, and supporting the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
During the meeting, representatives from the School of Computer Science and Technology, and the School of Information and Electronics, BIT, also presented on their recent work.
